Man Travels 3,000 Miles To Grave Of Girlfriend’s Father To Ask For Her Hand In Marriage

Five years after meeting his soul mate in Napa Valley, Matthew Russo knew he was ready to propose to his girlfriend Kristina Broughton. He wanted to make sure the moment was absolutely perfect so he set out on a quest to obtain permission from her family before asking for her hand in marriage.

Kristina And Matthew Met Five Years Ago In Napa Valley

In one weekend, Matthew planned to travel from San Francisco to Orlando to Las Vegas to New York to ask Kristina’s parents the ultimate question. His first stop was to her mother in Orlando; next up was her grandmother in Las Vegas who gave him a family heirloom diamond ring for his bride-to-be; his final trip was to New York to the grave of Kristina’s late father who died in 2007.

Her Mother Was So Happy For Kristina

Matthew made sure to record every single moment and share it with Kristina at a later date.

He Traveled To New York To Visit Kristina’s Father’s Grave

In the video, Matthew can be seen saying: “I wish I would’ve had the chance to actually have met you. Kristina tells me all the time about how you and I are very similar. I take pride in that considering how highly she speaks of you.”

He continued: “I hope you’ll accept me and allow me to one day be your son-in-law. I promise to adopt your role as a caregiver. I promise to protect and look after your daughter for as long as I live.”

He Returned To Napa, Where They First Met, To Pop The Question

After showing her the video during a return trip to Napa Valley Winery, Matthew surprised her with a proposal, too. As tears streamed down her face, she said yes!
